For more information on how to participate in WIC, call 93. Department of Agriculture funds the supplemental nutrition program, WIC, that helps women and children that are income eligible have nutritious foods. The individual colors provide a mix of different nutrients that are beneficial to your health. When picking out produce select a range of different colors, such as red, green, orange and yellow. Incorporating a variety of fruits and vegetables is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. To find out all the foods available through your WIC benefits, select your state below. Green beans, corn, watermelon, and peaches are just some of the produce items that are often available at farmers markets and grocery stores. Some of the foods available through the WIC program include eggs, cheese, infant and adult cereal, fruits and vegetables, canned fish, peanut butter and canned beans and peas and more. The Highland County Community Action Organization Women, Infant, and Children Program (HCCAO WIC) has partnered with local farmers to provide nutritious, fresh produce to its WIC participants.Ĭommunity members and WIC participants can enjoy many fruits and vegetables that are locally grown during the summer months. The current Shopping Guide became effective on April 2, 2019. It is designed for participants and WIC authorized vendors to use at the grocery store to help identify WIC foods. This summer get your fresh produce while it’s in season.
